Franz Wolfahrt si aspettava di essere ucciso

come era già avvenuto a suo padre e a suo fratello.

Pensando a sua madre, alla fidanzata

e ai suoi conservi Testimoni,

nel 1944 scrisse una poesia d'addio

mentre era rinchiuso in un campo nazista:

Rimango Saldo

Nella mia fede rimango sempre saldo
    pur se dal mondo ricevo scherni e grida

Nella speranza rimango sempre saldo
    di un dì migliore in cui ciascun sorrida

Nell’amore rimango sempre saldo
    pur se il mondo con l’odio mi ripaga

Sì, leale rimango sempre saldo
    anche se il mondo in vie malvagie vaga

Dalla Parola di Dio viene il vigore
    Che anche ai deboli dà forza per lottare

Rimango saldo per grazia del Signore
    Con le mie forze non lo potrei mai fare

A costo di morir, rimango saldo
    Quand’anche esali l’ultimo respiro

Dalle mie labbra potrete ancora udire
    Rimango saldo, rimango saldo, rimango saldo!
